How to Apply
Applications are now open for all Cultivating Healthy Environments grants. To get started, read the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) (PDF, 1.1 MB) to guide you through what’s needed and how to apply. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; however, grant proposals are reviewed on a quarterly basis. Upcoming deadlines are April 30, July 31, and October 31.

Our applications are accessible to all eligible applicants, available in multiple formats, and tailored to reach communities from all walks of life, across each of the regions we support. We engage with communities to provide support for successful funding applications. Use the resources below as you prepare to apply.
Application Review Process
After you submit your application, the review process takes 3-6 months.
- Identifies any blockers to funding.
- Provides opportunity for corrections of application. May include requests for more information.
- Refers applicants to Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (TCTAC) if needed.
- Evaluates project, feasibility, and likelihood of success.
- May include technical review for Tier II and Tier III.
- Reviews and discusses applications.
- Considers external reviews.
- Makes funding decisions for all applications.
- Applications are funded or not funded.
- Provides guidance on next steps.
- Includes feedback and guidance on decisions.
- Resubmissions are allowed. Referrals to TCTACs are made if assistance is needed.
